Word On The Street - Project Update 12.16.20

And That's a Wrap!
We just completed our last weekly phone call with MDOT Project Manager Brian Travis for the Restore M-24 Project this year. He shared the last couple items they are working on as we close out this year of construction work. The items on the list are installing the remaining signs, making timing adjustments to traffic lights, and cleaning up the job site.
There will be additional work in the Spring, and Brian gave an anticipated start date of April 15th. The work will last about a month, and possibly a little longer. As that date draws closer though, we will be given a more accurate estimate for the start of the work and the amount of time it will take.
These are the items to be tackled in the Spring:
Landscaping and tree plantings in Downtown
Irrigation installation
Streetscape fixtures including bollards, benches, tables/chairs, etc.
Permanent pavement markings throughout whole job, including Endurablend product at Burdick crosswalks
Re-surfacing the detour route on Glaspie
Miscellaneous punchlist items and anything else that pops up over Winter
It is almost hard to believe that we have reached the end of this project, and that a year has passed from when construction began in Oxford. We would like to thank everyone that worked so hard to get our roads completed and the residents for their continued patience during this challenging time. We are #OxfordStrong!
