Word On The Street - Project Update 5.13.20

Updated: May 20

Starting tomorrow, south of Drahner there will be lane changes that will be in effect until July. These changes are as follows: the southbound right lane will be closed from Drahner to Indianwood. Past Indianwood, that single lane will be shifted onto the existing center turn lane. Northbound will have one lane open from Goldengate to Indianwood. The existing northbound lane will be re-striped into a shared center left turn lane. During this stage of the project the southbound pavement will be milled and resurfaced.

At the Drahner Rd. intersection the new water main installation should be wrapping up today and the storm sewer work is nearing completion. The grading crew will be moving forward and placing stone and base. Additional curb and driveway removal will be starting soon, and Dan's and MDOT will be communicating with business owners and residents regarding work that will be affecting them. This work will continue into next week, and towards the end of next week curb and driveways will be going in. Paving will be starting in this area the later part of the week after Memorial Day. Once the pavement is in, Dan's and MDOT will be moving to the West side of the Drahner Rd. intersection, and Stage 2A Detour route will go into effect.

Light pole removal on the East side of M-24 is underway, and is being coordinated with the DPW. They are only removing light poles on the East side of M-24 at this time. They will be refurbished and reinstalled prior to the removal of light poles on the West side of the street.

Foundation recording and vibration monitoring will be starting tomorrow. If you haven't submitted your current contact information to the Village, please send your name, business name & address email, and best number to reach you at to communications@thevillageofoxford.org. A listing of business addresses can be found here.

Consumers is still unable to complete the tie-ins for the work north of Burdick St. Once the COVID restrictions are lifted, they will be able to enter residences & businesses. This date has yet to be determined.

Just a reminder to please drive safely, abide traffic rules, keep workers safe, follow posted detour routes and refrain from using neighborhood side streets. Thank you for your continued patience. We are all in this together. #OxfordStrong
